Trim, Grade and Roll At the Same Time!

Burchland’s Auto Grading Trimmer (AGT) is a skid steer mounted trimmer created for precision grading in hard materials on any paving project. The skid steer attachment is ideal for trimming sub-grade soil under building pads, parking lots, curb and gutter, sidewalks, trails and roads.

Its size makes it convenient to use on small and large job sites. Mobilization is a breeze with this skid steer grading attachment.

The AGT allows contractors to cut grade to a precise elevation with a smooth finish in hard sub-base materials. Where rock sub-base is required, use the trimmer once to grade the soil and again to cut the compacted rock base to the correct elevation. By using this method, contractors get a very precise yield on both rock and concrete or asphalt. Minimize your material usage to maximize profit!

The AGT skid steer trimmer is compatible with all brands of automated machine controls and functions with laser receivers, GPS, Robotic Total Station, sonic and string line sensors. The trimmer can be operated in manual mode as well.

The Burchland AGT’s success stems from its 16-inch OD trimmer rotor that cuts an 8 foot wide path. The rotor is built with replaceable, carbide-tipped cutting teeth and 1/2 inch thick flighting that windrows the trimmed material to one side. The trimmer head is turned by a direct drive, large displacement hydraulic motor. Following a simple design, the AGT has no gearboxes or chain drives to maintain. Behind the trimmer rotor is a grader blade edge that screeds off material and provides a smooth finish. The rotor and grader blade are moved up and down with two hydraulic cylinders to precisely follow the correct surface elevation. The rotor and grader blade are angled 5 degrees from the direction of travel to help ensure a smooth surface finish.

Another important feature of the AGT skid steer trimmer is the 16-inch diameter smooth drum roller that smooths out and seals the grade surface. The roller rides on the finished grade and acts as a stabilizer removing any movement from the skid steer loader arms. This helps the skid steer trimmer achieve a precise finish grade.

To provide the best performance, the Burchland AGT requires a high flow skid steer and a separate case drain line. Consult your skid steer dealer if your skid steer does not have a factory installed auxiliary case drain line.

“We have been using the Burchland AGT skid steer trimmer to accurately fine grade hard clay and 1” minus material that a motor grader has difficulty cutting. Our finished subgrade results in a compacted, smooth surface that our concrete crews can set forms directly on the subgrade and pave with no further height adjustments or fine grading. We’ve completed these jobs with less than 5% overrun on concrete. With the labor and material savings experienced in our first year with the trimmer, we’re looking forward to expanding its use this upcoming season. Utilizing the total station control, this versatile trimmer works well for both short rehab street projects and parking lots.”

— Matt VanderPol | VanderPol Excavating | Orange City, IA

“We’ve been running the Burchland Trimmer since the summer of 2018. We run the trimmer on our curb and gutter jobs to get the grade correct before we pour curbs. It makes our slip form curb process much easier. It’s an awesome monster!”

— Chris Hannon | Innovative Curbs | Ocala, FL

“Heavy built, reliable and a big part of our cost savings strategy.”

— Trevor Drish | Drish Construction | Fairfield, Iowa

“It’s a good machine for small jobs that don’t have room to get a larger machine in. I like the quick setup and I think it’s a great value.”

— Beau Perkins | Hawkeye Paving | Bettendorf, IA

What is the AGT used for?

The AGT is a skid-steer attachment designed for precision grading of hard sub-base materials like compacted soil, gravel, asphalt, and concrete during paving, curb, gutter, sidewalks, trails, and parking lot prep.

How does it achieve smooth, precise grades?

It features a 16″ diameter rotor with carbide-tipped teeth and a screed blade that cuts and winds rows to the side. Behind that, an integrated smooth drum roller seals and stabilizes the finish grade with high precision.

What are its compatibility and mounting options?

The AGT mounts easily on standard skid steer hitches and works with universal automated controls like GPS, lasers, robotic total stations, sonic sensors, or string-line systems. Manual operation is also available.

What typical working width does the AGT cover?

Its 16″ rotor handles an 8 ft-wide path, making it efficient for large-scale grading on tight or open job sites.

Why is the AGT low-maintenance?

The unit uses a direct-drive hydraulic motor—eliminating gearboxes or chain drives—so maintenance is limited to standard hydraulic and rotor upkeep.

What skid steer requirements are recommended?

It requires a high-flow skid steer and a separate case drain line to function optimally. Check with your dealer if your machine isn’t equipped with these features.

What are the main benefits of using the AGT?

The AGT delivers precise, laser-grade control; a smooth, compacted finish; and faster mobilization on varied job sites—especially ideal where larger machinery can’t access easily.
