Trim, Grade and Roll At the Same Time!
Burchland’s Auto Grading Trimmer (AGT) is a skid steer mounted trimmer created for precision grading in hard materials on any paving project. The skid steer attachment is ideal for trimming sub-grade soil under building pads, parking lots, curb and gutter, sidewalks, trails and roads.
Its size makes it convenient to use on small and large job sites. Mobilization is a breeze with this skid steer grading attachment.
The AGT allows contractors to cut grade to a precise elevation with a smooth finish in hard sub-base materials. Where rock sub-base is required, use the trimmer once to grade the soil and again to cut the compacted rock base to the correct elevation. By using this method, contractors get a very precise yield on both rock and concrete or asphalt. Minimize your material usage to maximize profit!
The AGT skid steer trimmer is compatible with all brands of automated machine controls and functions with laser receivers, GPS, Robotic Total Station, sonic and string line sensors. The trimmer can be operated in manual mode as well.
The Burchland AGT’s success stems from its 16-inch OD trimmer rotor that cuts an 8 foot wide path. The rotor is built with replaceable, carbide-tipped cutting teeth and 1/2 inch thick flighting that windrows the trimmed material to one side. The trimmer head is turned by a direct drive, large displacement hydraulic motor. Following a simple design, the AGT has no gearboxes or chain drives to maintain. Behind the trimmer rotor is a grader blade edge that screeds off material and provides a smooth finish. The rotor and grader blade are moved up and down with two hydraulic cylinders to precisely follow the correct surface elevation. The rotor and grader blade are angled 5 degrees from the direction of travel to help ensure a smooth surface finish.
Another important feature of the AGT skid steer trimmer is the 16-inch diameter smooth drum roller that smooths out and seals the grade surface. The roller rides on the finished grade and acts as a stabilizer removing any movement from the skid steer loader arms. This helps the skid steer trimmer achieve a precise finish grade.
To provide the best performance, the Burchland AGT requires a high flow skid steer and a separate case drain line. Consult your skid steer dealer if your skid steer does not have a factory installed auxiliary case drain line.

Why People Love the AGT Soil Trimmer
Frequently Asked Questions
We understand you may have questions about our equipment. We are here to provide you with quick and easy answers to the most common inquiries about our products, services, ordering, and more.
What is a soil trimmer and what does it do?
A soil trimmer is an attachment designed to cut, level, and finish soil with far more precision than a bucket or box blade. It trims high spots, fills low spots, and leaves behind a smooth, even surface that’s ready for compaction, seeding, or final grading. The AGT Soil Trimmer is built for contractors who need consistent, accurate results on every pass.
What jobs is a soil trimmer used for?
A soil trimmer is used for grading, site prep, leveling pads, smoothing trenches, shaping ditches, seedbed prep, and arena maintenance. It handles anything that requires accurate soil shaping or finishing. Many contractors use a soil trimmer as the last tool on the ground before concrete, turf, or landscaping goes in.
What makes the AGT Soil Trimmer different from other soil trimmers?
The AGT Soil Trimmer trims soil cleanly and evenly thanks to its engineered cutter design and stable frame. It’s built for professional use, so it holds grade well, handles tough soil conditions, and reduces the time needed to finish a site. Its durability, predictable performance, and consistent cutting depth set it apart from lighter-duty soil trimmers.
What equipment is the AGT Soil Trimmer compatible with?
The AGT attaches to most skid steers and compact track loaders using a standard quick-attach mount. If your machine accepts universal skid steer attachments, the soil trimmer will connect easily and be ready to run with minimal setup.
How deep can a soil trimmer cut or grade?
Cutting depth varies depending on the model and soil conditions, but the AGT Soil Trimmer is designed to take down high spots, shave compacted soil, and leave an even finish without digging ruts or creating an uneven grade. It gives operators predictable depth control so the final surface is smooth and uniform.
Can a soil trimmer handle clay, rocks, or compacted soil?
Yes. The AGT Soil Trimmer is built for real jobsite conditions and performs well in clay, compacted soil, gravelly areas, and even light rock. Its cutters are designed to remove material cleanly without bouncing or chattering, which helps maintain a smooth final grade.
How does the AGT Soil Trimmer improve grading accuracy?
The AGT uses a stable frame, quality cutters, and controlled cutting depth to create an even surface in fewer passes. It removes high spots instead of pushing them around, so operators can hit grade quickly and cleanly. Because the soil trimmer levels consistently, it reduces the amount of handwork and rework needed on the job.
What size soil trimmer do I need for my machine?
Choose a soil trimmer width that matches the operating capacity and typical jobsite needs of your skid steer. Wider trimmers cover more ground, while narrower sizes work well in tight areas or on smaller machines. The AGT Soil Trimmer comes in multiple widths so contractors can pick the right fit for their loader and their work.
Is a soil trimmer easy to maintain?
Yes. The AGT Soil Trimmer is built with simple, durable components that require minimal upkeep. Routine maintenance usually includes checking fasteners, inspecting the cutters, and clearing debris. With basic care, the attachment stays reliable for years of grading and trimming.
Can a soil trimmer be used for landscaping or arena grooming?
Absolutely. Soil trimmers are ideal for finishing landscaping grades, creating smooth bases for sod, shaping paths, and preparing riding arenas. The AGT Soil Trimmer leaves a consistent, clean finish that helps create a professional result in both landscaping and arena applications.
Use Cases for the AGT Auto Grading Trimmer
The AGT Auto Grading Soil Trimmer is designed to simplify and speed up the process of creating precise, level surfaces. Whether you’re working on construction, landscaping, or sports field preparation, this attachment takes the guesswork out of grading. By delivering accuracy and efficiency in every pass, it helps operators save time, reduce labor, and achieve professional results with minimal rework.
